The Problem
"Distractions are part of every sport: the last mistake, the scoreboard, the people watching. Superior concentration does not mean never drifting; it means knowing the cues that help you perform and coming back to them quickly. That is a skill you can practise, one play at a time."

Who it's for

The right fit

Designed for For athletes who dwell on the last play, think ahead to outcomes, or find their concentration pulled away by thoughts and feelings mid-competition.

A focused course in the Compete Well series for athletes who lose focus in competition. The first module identifies your performance cues and top distractions and builds a Plan A that keeps your mind on the process; the second teaches Plan B, the three R's of recognise, regroup and refocus. Each module follows its workbook session through the exercises, this week's action plans and a post-game assessment, then adds one or two optional tools from the wider FlourishIQ library.

Common questions

FAQ

Who is this course for?
Athletes who dwell on the last play or worry about outcomes, whose concentration is disrupted by thoughts, images or feelings, and who want to get into and stay in the zone.
How does this relate to the other Compete Well courses?
It is one of the focused Compete Well courses, each taking one part of the mental game; this one is about concentration and refocusing.
How do I practise between competitions?
Journal the distractions you notice in practice and competition, write a refocus statement for each, and rehearse it at home. In competition, give yourself an extra second between plays to refocus.
