From the founder: Develop Your Gritty VIPER's Growth Mindset

Learning to think. By Dr Alten du Plessis, founder of LearnSmart4Life.

This course is for a learner in a long pursuit who wants more than talent to carry them: a Grade 11 or 12 learner who also competes in sport, a student working through a demanding degree, anyone mastering something hard over years. Its examples come from competitive sport, and its practices travel to the classroom, the lecture hall and the exam season.

The course brings grit, resilience and growth mindset together in one framework you can train, VIPER: Vision, Intention, Purpose, Energized Execution and Resilience. It helps you embrace challenge, keep going through difficulty, learn from each setback and keep growing over the long run. Grit and growth mindset are treated as resources you develop through practice, not fixed traits.

Each module pairs assessments that show where you stand with exercises that build the skill. In the first module, The Three Hard Things Exercise asks you each evening to name the three hardest things you did that day, and Meet Me in Ten Years links today's effort to the future you are working towards. Develop Your Intention includes the Hope Check-In and the Nurture Your Hope Worksheet, which builds more than one route to a goal. Develop Your Purpose adds Values Clarification and a Purpose Statement. Energized Execution looks at flow and deliberate practice through Your Personal Flow Profile, and the resilience module adds the Performance Journal for daily reflection on practice and lessons learned.

I suggest you begin with the first module, Develop Your Grit & Growth Mindset, and complete its assessments before its developmental exercises, as the course notes advise. A free twenty-four-hour trial of the whole course lets you look around first.
